Dental TechnologyDigital X-raysDigital radiography has greatly enhanced the practice of dentistry. This process allows for the patient and the doctor to see images of the teeth in higher resolution on a large format for easier detection of problems, all while decreasing the radiation exposure to the patient. The large image on the monitor lets you get a better picture of your oral health. The immediate observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your dental health quickly and accurately. Having the images in this format allows for sharing of information with specialists and other clinicians when interdisciplinary care is needed. Digital x-rays allow you to get necessary care without unnecessary radiation. It eliminates the worries of exposure in the dental office. This process is also better for the environment as it doesn't use photo chemicals and film, thus eliminating waste. We believe that digital radiography is a safer, better, faster, more accurate, service for our patients. Intra-oral CamerasThe use of intra-oral cameras has greatly increased our communication with our patients. We use a small pen-sized camera to take photos of your teeth and gums and project them on a monitor in front of you. This allows us to instantly share with you what we are seeing. Whether it be broken/leaking fillings, decay, fractured teeth, gum issues, or other problems, together we can talk and decide on a necessary treatment plan together. A picture is worth a thousand words, and this is just another form of communication we like to use in our office to better serve our patients. DIAGNOdentOur office believes in doing the most minimally invasive treatment possible. The DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection aid technology the size of a large pen, allows for simple pain-free early detection of caries in "hidden" pits and fissures or the teeth. It allows for the monitoring of cavities progression too. The earliest possible care is required to maintain a healthy dentition, and this is just one of the devices used in our office to help maintain good oral health. LOGICONLOGICON is a computer aided cavity detection software that helps to provide us with another diagnostic tool in the earliest diagnosis of dental decay. With a simple use of the digital x-rays already displayed in front of the patient, we can easily use the software to show patients the start of cavities, or the extent of more advanced dental decay. We like to use this system as just another form of co-diagnosis , or second opinion if you will, in striving to provide the most patient with the most accurate, conservative dental treatment necessary. Digital PhotographyThe use of digital photography in our office is another form of communication. Photography can be used to take photos of your teeth and smile, and allow for us to project it large on the monitor before us. This form of communication can then give the ability to our patients and us to further explain dental needs or what you as the patient aren't happy with regarding your teeth or smile. The photos can also be used for us to communicate to our dental laboratory just exactly what you want to see in your new smile design. The photographs are also useful to show before and after results of your new smile. Ultra Sonic ScalersUltrasonic scalers are used for dental cleanings. These devices use ultrasonic vibrations to help breakdown the plaque and calculus on the teeth that cause gingivitis and periodontal disease. The water flow from the end of the instrument washes away the debris from the pocket. Our instruments use an ultra-fine tip to better navigate in the periodontal pockets to help maintain optimal gingival health. Our staff of highly trained hygienists, always finish their procedure with fine hand scaling and polish to the patients satisfaction. |
